22 year old James Blake(2nd Best 120-140BPM Producer on Dubstep Forum Awards) sounds pretty pissed over the remix culture.
Here’s what he states in a recent interview for Spin Magazine: “Remixing is like musical prostitution. I think it’s really cynical and vacuous; I’m batting offers away like flies. It never used to be like that. Ray Charles didn’t need five remixes. The song speaks for itself.”"
As things can’t stand still(not in the electronic bizness), especially something as dynamic as Music(not to mention the industry and propaganda era, social networks and links of all kind), no surprise these days the remixing culture registers the highest scores of all times.
He does make a point smoothly attacking the artificial image built thru the media, and what he says about Dubstep sounds pretty cute:
“Dubstep is so internal. It sends people so far into their own heads that when I’m DJ’ing, I get people saying to me, ‘Man, I blacked out when you played that song.’ It’s that internal quality that informs the album.”
But I’ll let you all Spin that article yourselves.
